Vann, Hi this is Joyces sister Pam in Florida. I wanted to take a moment to Thank You for allowing me to sit in on your art class. Upon returning to Florida I was asked to attend a "CAT" (Community Action Team) meeting. The "CAT" is part of the Lee Conlee House Domestic Violence Center in my area. I got involved with them a few years back doing a fundraiser for them. Their goal is to bring awareness to and preventing domestic violence. Part of the meeting was to tour "Silent No More" Art Show & Exhibit. The art on display was done by survivors of domestic violence. I did not know when I was in Washington to attend Art Trails and your class, what an impact it would turn out to be in my life. If I had visited this exhibit prior to my trip I would have looked at it and .....well, I would not have liked it or appreciated it. The art dispalyed showed so much pain, darkness, almost as if it were calling out to you, light, hope. Each piece really made me think. It was very emotional for me. It made appreciate my life more and more determined to volunteer my time for the benefit of others. You have helped to open up a whole new world to me. Thank you for that!!!!!!
I know you do not watch television, but last night on the Tony awards, they performed a scene from the play "The Lion KIng". Most of the jungle animals were puppets, including a huge elephant. Before your art class I would not have even notice how fantastic all the puppet animals were and how much went in to creating them.
Hey Vann, I need to sit down and figue this out(my page thing). I will add stuff this weekend and work on my page to make it a little interesting. This will be great for all of us to stay in touch through the summer. i loved the pics of your family.
